Samsung’s new mid-range lineup is here. The Galaxy A57 5G went on sale in the UK today, April 10, 2026, available now from Samsung.com, Currys, and Amazon UK at a starting price of £529 for 256GB. Currys is sweetening the launch with a promotion running until April 28: purchase the A57 or its sibling the A37 and claim a free pair of Galaxy Buds FE. It’s a solid launch incentive — though the A57 still needs to justify a £30 increase on last year’s A56.

What You Get

The Galaxy A57 5G is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1680 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM as standard and a 12GB option for those who want headroom. The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display carries a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution, with Vision Booster technology for improved outdoor legibility in bright conditions. HDR support and 4K video recording are both included.

Design is the A57’s most significant upgrade this year. At just 6.9mm thick and 179g, it’s noticeably thinner and lighter than the A56, which measured 8mm and 198g. Samsung has also stepped up water resistance to IP68, an improvement over the A56’s IP67 rating. The A57 comes in Awesome Navy, Awesome Grey, Awesome Icyblue, and Awesome Lilac.

The rear camera system is a 50MP main lens with an upgraded Image Signal Processor for sharper low-light output, a 13MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro. A 12MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. Samsung’s Nightography mode targets low-light shooting, and a faster shutter speed helps capture quick moments more reliably.

The 5,000mAh battery supports 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0 — Samsung claims 60% charge in 30 minutes. No wireless charging is included, and no charger comes in the box. The microSD slot, dropped on the A56, has not returned.

Software is Android 16 with One UI 8.5 and Samsung’s Awesome Intelligence suite. That covers Circle to Search with multi-object recognition, Object Eraser, Auto Trim, Best Face, and Nightography editing. Knox security and a new Private Album for locking sensitive content round out the feature set. Samsung guarantees six years of OS and security updates from launch.

What’s New Compared to the Galaxy A56

The Galaxy A56 launched at £499 in the UK — the A57 is £30 more expensive. For that premium, buyers get a slimmer and lighter build, an upgraded IP68 waterproofing rating, an improved camera ISP for sharper low-light results, and One UI 8.5 with Awesome Intelligence. Battery capacity, display size, and charging speeds remain unchanged. For existing A56 owners, the upgrade is incremental and unlikely to be urgent. Coming from the A55 or an older mid-range handset, the differences are considerably more compelling.

Is It Worth Buying?

At £529, the Galaxy A57 5G makes a credible case. Six years of guaranteed updates, a capable triple camera, IP68 protection, and a genuinely slimmer form factor than before are the headline strengths. Samsung’s Awesome Intelligence tools add real day-to-day value, and One UI 8.5 is among the most polished mid-range Android experiences available.

Competition at this price is fierce. The Pixel 9a also launched in the UK today at £499, offering Google’s camera software and AI tools for £30 less. For buyers already embedded in the Samsung ecosystem — those who rely on Galaxy AI, Samsung Health, or their existing Samsung devices — the A57 wins on familiarity and feature depth. For those who prioritise camera software quality above all else, the Pixel 9a is a serious alternative worth considering directly.

Anyone after the full Samsung flagship experience will find the Samsung Galaxy S26 starts from £799 with a significantly more powerful chipset and camera system — a step up that’s worth the outlay for power users.
